  • Cream shortening and sugar together; add eggs and vanillla.
  • In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, spices and salt.
  • Add to shortening mixture alternately with applesauce, mixing well.
  • Lightly flour raisins and walnuts; add to batter.
  • Pour batter into a greased bundt pan.
  • Bake for 2 hours at 275 degrees F.
