Celastrus Extract, (Intellect Seed) Powder extract

This is the powdered extract of celastrus seeds. The oil from the Celastrus seed has long been valued in India for its beneficial effects on memory and intellect. Even in modern times, many Indian college students regularly consume half a teaspoon or less of the oil as part of their daily diet; the oil acts as a brain stimulant to improve their memory, recall and to give them a slight edge during important exams. Animal evidence suggests Celastrus paniculatus can protect the brain and improve cognition, but single dose supplementation is ineffective. The effect becomes stronger over two weeks of supplementation

Celastrus paniculatus seeds are used to alleviate cognitive issues and promote intestinal health. The seeds can also be made into an oil, which is sometimes used during massage. The oil is used to alleviate skin inflammation and has a mild sedative effect.

The leaves and seeds of the plant are used medicinally or to prepare extracts or celastrus oil. Celastrus seed oil is most commonly used for its supposed cognitive-boosting properties.

The seeds contain celastrine and paniculatin (alkaloids), which may contain antioxidants. According to some researchers, compounds in the seed extract block acetylcholine esterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine. This may increase acetylcholine levels in the brain, which potentially could have nootropic effects.
